How OCI-R Scoring Works
The OCI-R is scored as a sum of frequency-style ratings. Tests Pro follows that idea so you can see a transparent total and a plain-language band—not a hidden “type.”
Twelve ratings, one total
Each item is rated from “Not at all” to “Extremely.” Points add up from 0 to 48. There is no weighted personality ranking. Honesty about the past month matters more than aiming for a low score.
The cutoff of 21
In published OCI-R research, a total of 21 or higher is commonly treated as a positive screen for clinically significant obsessive-compulsive symptoms. On Tests Pro, that band means professional evaluation is worth considering. It still is not a diagnosis.
Scores of 0–10 sit in a minimal range on this brief screen. Scores of 11–20 can still reflect real distress. Screening tools miss some people; trust your day-to-day impact as much as the number.
Domain highlights
Your result page may note which symptom areas scored higher—checking, washing, ordering, or unwanted thoughts. Use those notes as talking points with a clinician. Evidence-based care for OCD often includes exposure and response prevention (ERP) and, when appropriate, medication decided with a prescriber.
